Jingdezhen Porcelain - Song Dynasty/Globle Trade 1

“ Only China knows how to make it” as it could be said over 1,000 years ago. What makes us stand firmly to speak these words out is the treasure of porcelain culture. And how did it spread to abroad? Global trade played an essential role in this part. Tracing back to 2,000 years ago, which was about 9th century.

According to Chinese history, it was Han Dynasty when Chinese global trade started. As time passed by, the global trade of Jingdezhen porcelain began in Song Dynasty (around 10th century). The number of countries and the massive quantity of porcelain caused a sensation. And the fabled town of Jingdezhen became well-known domestically and internationally. The exportation of Jingdezhen porcelain reached to over 50 countries such as Japan, Korean Peninsula, Iraq, Egypt, Somalia, Syria, Sri Lanka, India, Indonesia, Thailand and so on. In the next video, we will discuss the reason behind this.
