Jingdezhen Porcelain - in Yuan Dynasty (1)

Why Blue and white porcelain could be worshiped for over 700 years?

That’s because it’s not only representing the merit of porcelain itself, but also containing the historical characters of each dynasty. In late 13th century, the Mongol put an end to acts of divisional strife and united China by defeating other regimes. As it goes, each era has its own. Thereafter, in the early 14th century, an entirely new kind of porcelain appeared--blue and white.

During the 98 years of Mongolian regime, Yuan blue and white porcelain, with its often massive forms and complex decoration, differed fundamentally from the slighter and more delicate wares of proceeding Song dynasty. At the beginning, it was held great esteem all over Asia, from the kilns at Jingdezhen in Southern China it was carried westwards owning to the flourishing global trade by both land and ocean. Certainly, it had to do with the ruler of the country, but it more related to the current affairs and policies at that time.
